Microdermabrasion Exfoliation (face and neck) approx.45 minutes Microdermabrasion
is a cosmetic procedure n which the stratum corneum (dead outermost surface of
the skin) is partially removed by light abrasion. Particles are removed off through
the handpiece through which the abrasive particles come. Microdermabrasion is
also used to remove sun-damaged skin and to lessen minor scars and dark spots
on the skin. The procedure is not very painful and requires no anaesthetic. There
is some evidence that microdermabrasion stimulates collagen formation.
Patients who have taken the medication Accutane (Isotretinion) in
the previous twelve months should avoid microdermabrasion. |
